Forest View Pilates

Maxine ShentonAbout Forest View Pilates and Maxine

I have been teaching  PILATES and THE ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE for over 20 years. I still feel as enthusiastic about both methods, as I did when I first started training!

I have additionally undertaken, further extensive training, exclusively related to Lower Back Pain. Further studies have allowed me to become a Back4Good® Practitioner .

When I discovered PILATES, I found a body conditioning method that I thoroughly enjoyed and complemented the Alexander Technique perfectly. It appealed to me that the exercises are performed in a precise, controlled way with emphasis on postural alignment. I trained with the Body Control Pilates Association in London in matwork and REFORMER (Pilates machine).

I have taught matwork classes at the Chewton Glen Hotel and at The Roundhill Pilates and Physiotherapy Centre in Fordingbridge

My interest started in the Alexander Technique as a horse rider. I needed to improve my riding but found it difficult to know how. The Technique taught me how to change the way I used my body, not only whilst riding but in my everyday life. I was so impressed with the results that I decided to train to become a teacher. I graduated from  the three year full time training approved by the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique.

With both ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE  and PILATES, I teach people from all walks of life, a wide range of ages and personalities.
